Kel-Berg makes preparations for Brexit

Posted: Wednesday 20th March 2019

With the possibility of Brexit now being delayed and a deal not yet being agreed, Kel-Berg has made the move to switch e11 UK Vehicle Type Approvals to e5 Swedish approvals.

Effective from Wednesday 20th March 2019 (our transition date), Kel-Berg has a new range of approval numbers for different types of Trailer being placed into the UK and EU markets.

All Certificates of Conformity (COC’s) issued from 20th March 2019 will carry the new e5 numbers along with the chassis plates for trailers registered after this date.

As for the Rigid vehicles, Kel-Berg will continue to use the current range of e11 numbers until the VCA makes an announcement on the changes needed to comply with EU approvals.

With a deal, the UK aims to achieve mutual recognition of UK and EU type-approval certification. If this is attained, the industry would see little change with EU approvals issued in the UK and Europe being mutually accepted by both parties for the purpose of registration and the placing of goods onto the market.

Should there be no deal however, Kel-Berg and its customers will be covered for either eventuality.
